Prior to teaching drum lessons in Raleigh, NC, Peter Albrecht received his Bachelor of Music degree from the University of Iowa School of Music where he studied percussion performance with Thomas L. Davis, and composition with Dr. Donald Martin Jenni and Dr. Richard Hervig. While at the University, Peter performed with the Symphony Orchestra, Chamber Orchestra, Percussion Ensemble, small Jazz ensembles and the Concert Band. He performed in productions mounted by the University of Iowa Departments of Theatre Arts and Dance, and in numerous recitals and concerts held by the School of Music and the Center for New Music.
Subsequent to receiving his degree, he played professionally in a wide variety of musical settings, including jazz, rock, blues and country music bands as well as community orchestras and church groups.
As a private teacher giving drum lessons in Raleigh, North Carolina for over 20 years, Mr. Albrecht teaches private lessons to percussion students of all levels, and has instructed a high school marching band pit ensemble. His students participate in school music programs, regional orchestras, wind ensembles and numerous church groups. Many have continued to be active in music as amateur or professional musicians. Mr. Albrecht continues to play music in a variety of settings in the Raleigh area.
